CPS Workshops at Shaare Zion Ohel Bracha, Yeshivat Har Torah, and Yeshiva Shaare Torah

Our wonderful Director of Education, Karen Kruger, visited several schools this past week to facilitate back-to-school workshops on Collaborative Problem Solving. Teachers and administrators alike were fascinated by this unique approach to solving issues with difficult students. With the CPS method, the teacher and the student work together to solve problems. The teachers were encouraged to discuss the method in small and large groups and to try out some role playing!

Teachers from Shaarei Zion Ohel Bracha (Forest Hills, NY) enjoyed watching their principal, Rabbi Lam participate in a collaborative problem solving role play, as part of their training with Karen Kruger, Director of Education for Hidden Sparks and SZOB’s coach, Dr. Tamar Bauman. This past summer, Hidden Sparks was pleased to host both principals from SZOB, Mrs. Shoshana Leibowitz and Rabbi Lam, in the Learning Lenses course together. What a great team to lead the way for SZOB towards becoming a full Hidden Sparks attuned school!

Teachers from Yeshiva Har Torah (Little Neck, NY) also enjoyed a day immersed in Collaborative Problem Solving, modeled by their very own, Rabbi Gary Menchel, Menahel. The day was planned and co-facilitated with YHT’s External Coach, Judith Talesnick, and Internal Coach, Dr. Estee Acobas.   Nurturing Internal Coaches to take on a leadership role mentored by coach Judith, and supporting whole school PD from the principal and from Hidden Sparks is the partnership model for capacity building and full school support! Way to go!
